How i deal with spots/mild acne

Spots can be a real problem for most people, and although smaller and milder spots may not be as noticeable to other people, it can still affect your self esteem. There was a time back in summer last year when my skin was perfectly clear. I had no spots, no scars from other spots, just glowing skin.
Since i've come to uni i've been getting stressed over the amount of work i have had to do. Also, i have a really busy schedule, which means i'm in uni 5 days a week, sometimes until 6pm. I work on Sundays so the only day i get to have a rest is Saturday. With my busy lifestyle, my skin has got bad again and i decided it was time to sort it out.
I found a routine that works for me, and although i still do get spots and there is no miracle treatment that can stop them from coming that i've found, i can conceal them well and treat them well. My first thing I would recommend is investing in a really good cleanser. Before i got really into beauty products and skin care, i used to just wash my face with soap, then i tried face washes, (too many and none of them worked for me!), so now i just use dove soap and a good cleanser.
When i used soap, i realised it wasn't enough for my skin and i had quite a lot of spots during high school and the start of sixth form. As i got into watching youtubers and reviews, i started hearing about cleansers and toners for your face. I thought that it was a waste of money. However, one day i decided to try a cleanser that i had heard so much about. It was the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. So many raved about it and i'm a sucker for hype products, so i bought it. I can honestly say it is one of the best things i've ever tried. I have had at least 6 or 7 now and it is something I will always repurchase.
It just seems to work for me. The cloths make all the difference so i would suggest buying the Starter pack with the 100ml tube and the 2 cloths inside for £14.25. It includes everything you need to get started. By using Liz Earle i've noticed that my skin is brighter, and clearer. It clears up spots quicker than without anything and it does combat scars somewhat.
The next thing i use to get rid of my spots is prescription drugs. I have just recently been given something from the doctors that seems to be working well. It is Oxytetracycline tablets and i take two twice a day. They seem to be working pretty well as i have already noticed the spots i have reducing.
Also, i have discovered a new skincare brand which i have high hopes for. After watching Barbara's (thepersianbabe) on youtube talk about La Roche Posay in one of her videos, i've been doing some research on their products. Tanya Burr from youtube also mentioned their products in one of her videos too. I finally decided to get the Effaclar duo from this line. I apply it morning and evening and it is a great makeup base too. It is designed to clear skin and unblock unclogged pores. I've been using this for two full days now so i will do a full review in a months time. Currently at Boots, there is the offer of 2 for £15 on all La Roche Posay Effaclar products, so i got another one too. I bought the Effaclar K which is a similar idea but it tightens and plumpens skin, making it seem firmer and clearer. I will be trying this after i have used the other one.
Finally, to cover spots and blemishes, i would suggest investing in a really good concealer. I use two. The first one, the cheaper option, is the one that is so highly raved about you may already know about it. It is the Collection 2000 Lasting perfection concealer. I bought it in shade number 1, fair. I use this mainly for under my eyes as it offers long lasting, good coverage. It is £4.19 at Boots which isn't too bad for a decent concealer. Secondly, i use MACs studio finish concealer in NC15 which is £14. This is the more pricey option but it does a great job of hiding spots. It blends in well with my foundation as i have the MAC studio sculpt foundation in the same shade. I find i need to reapply throughout the day, but it's one of my favourite concealers.
One other thing i really like to do when i have bad breakouts is clean my face brushes after every use. I use the Real techniques Stipling brush to apply my foundation and i clean it every with MACs brush cleanser. I find that this is beneficial as i know that i am not transferring bacteria around my face when i used it the day before. I clean my concealer brush after every use too. When i do not have any bad breakouts, i don't clean my brushes everyday. Instead I clean them every 2-3 days which i find is just the right amount.
This is the routine that works for me and i like it. Until you find the perfect routine to conceal your spots, they can be a big problem. But with a good base, concealer and cleanser you are well on your way to targetting those pimples.
